Why a Dedicated Screen Beats a Painted Wall
Most people spend the budget on the projector and then aim it at the wall. That is the wrong order. Dedicated projector screens exist because plaster is textured, slightly coloured, and the wrong shape. A matte white surface gives a flat 16:9 frame, more even brightness, and cleaner edges than a living-room wall ever will. The job of the screen is optical, not decorative. Light from an HD or 4K projector needs a consistent surface so colour and contrast do not change from the centre of the picture to the corners. Cheap sheets wrinkle after shipping, show through to the wall behind, and sit in a flimsy housing. A proper screen uses a denser matte fabric, a blackout or black-blocking rear layer, and a casing that keeps the drop path straight. For a room that stays put, electric projector screens are usually the tidiest option.
